MINI MAL Kit

Our Mini Mal is a great introduction into the world of building wooden surfboards as it is relatively easy to build and features gentle contours and rocker line.

The board features a single concave at the nose transitioning into a double concave at the tail providing a modern feel to the board while out on the water, there is a little extra volume in but the volume distribution is still very centralized and gives the shaper a lot of options for customizing the outline and rocker of the tail.

Designed to be suitable for first-time builders the 8′ Mini Mal is a joy to make!

What’s Included

Our DIY kits are available in two configurations with a number of optional add-ons allowing you to tailor the kit to what you need.

#1 Just The Frame

This option is for those who will be supplying their own timber for the deck skins and rails and just want the Laser Cut Frame.

Included with this kit is;

• laser cut paulownia frame kit
• paulownia rail pack
• laser cut rail guide to assist in shaping
• 1:1 paper template of deck outline
• leash plug
• vent plug

#2 Fully Decked

This option includes all the wooden components required to build your wooden board, all you need to supply is the tools, glue and fibreglassing

Included with this kit is;

• laser cut frame kit
• laser cut rail guide to assist in shaping
• 1:1 paper template of deck outline
• paulownia deck skin pack (300x6mm boards)
• paulownia rail pack
• leash plug black
• vent plug (screw type)

(optional) Add-Ons

These add-ons help during the construction of the board.

• Rocker Table (recommended)
  Used to ensure perfect deck skin glue-ups every time by precisely holding the bottom skin in the correct position & matching any concave or ‘V’ of the chosen board while you glue the frame in place.
• Fin Plugs
  For those who want to use a removable fin set-up instead of a glass-on fin setup.

Our CNC wooden surfboard frame kits are lightweight, easy to assemble, and incredibly strong.

Unlike other wood surfboard frames on the market that use plywood that’s treated with nasty chemicals and glues, our frames are 100% made natural paulownia timber that has been FSC certified making them the eco-friendly and natural choice.

CNC accuracy means you can be certain that your new hollow core wooden surfboard will fit together perfectly with no hidden surprises.

Please note: that Hollow Core Surfboards will still require Fiberglassing before being used on the water. We suggest using 4oz cloth with two layers on the top deck and one of the bottom. It is upto the buyer to source this component of the build. If you’re in perth we can arrange professional fibreglassing on your behalf.
